Radon is a colorless, odorless, and tasteless radioactive gas that forms naturally from the breakdown of uranium in soil, rock, and water. It seeps into homes through foundation cracks, crawl spaces, sump pits, and other openings, accumulating to dangerous levels if not properly mitigated.
The EPA action level for radon is 4.0 pCi/L (picocuries per liter). Any level above this should be mitigated.
